Alice In Chains Set To Release First Album In 14 Years
Alice In Chains have finished recording their first album together in 14 years and the band, which now features William Duvall on vocals, is eyeing a September release for their highly anticipated album of new material. After the untimely death of former vocalist Lane Staley in 2002, the band did briefly reunite in 2005 and now fans will finally have their long awaited album of new material from the band who was at the forefront of the Seattle grunge scene in the 1990's.
We caught up with guitarist Jerry Cantrell at the Revolver Golden God Awards to get an update on where the band is at in the studio and when they plan on releasing the album.
"We actually finished recording March 18th, which was my birthday and the day William's son was born so it was a pretty cool day. Huge day! So, we finished on the 18th and we're in the process of mixing right now. We're just about done with that. We're looking at a September release."
Alice In Chains was one of the most successful music acts of the 1990s and sold over 14 million albums in the United States alone, achieved two number-one Billboard 200 albums (Jar of Flies and Alice in Chains), 11 top ten singles on the Mainstream Rock Tracks charts, and six Grammy Award nominations. Alice In Chains will be one of the acts performing at the third annual Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio on May 16th and 17th joining Slipknot, Korn, Motley Crue, Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry to name just a few of the bands slated to perform.

This biopic is being made in a very independent way. We are fully
determined to do it. We won't allow any brainwashed Hollywood clown to
make fun of Layne's story or put him only in a "junkie" spotlight. We
spent enough time trying to explain what the movie is about. It was all
in vain. We have sadly learned that for Hollywood Layne Staley is
another overdosed rock star. They don’t want to show him differently or
should we say…they don’t want you to see the real side of the story.
The Film and Music industries and the Media are mostly managed by the
Mockingbird Project. Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain, Heath Ledger, Anna
Nicole among MANY others were VICTIMS of it. They were mockingly
KILLED. The “Get Born Again” Movie will show you the true story of a
human being who expressed himself frankly with his heart wide open
through his music and incredible voice. He died of an “ACCIDENTAL”
heroin overdose after being obligated to live like a hermit for six
years. Stop being the Zombie they want you to be. Open your eyes and

GET BORN AGAIN – THE MOVIE-
UPDATE
"This is a brief note to let you know that due to the global financial situation, the making of the film "Get Born Again" is taking a break until March of 2009. The US Company that was interested in Layne Staley's story said the following:
"There have been some changes at the company and we are shying away from getting involved early on projects. We still think it is a great story and could be a great film, but unfortunately there is not much we can do at this time. We wish you the best of luck with the film and wouldn't mind if you gave me updates on the progress".
The entire movie project is now in the hands of an Argentine Film Production Company. It will take some time until they can complete all necessary steps to get the project sold to an American Film Company. Journalist/Author Adriana Rubio is no longer involved with the film. Actor Lathan McKay is still attached to the project."

Soundwave Festival 2009
Alice in Chains returns to Australia for the first time in over a decade when they will join Nine Inch Nails, Alkaline Trio, and Lamb of God on 2009’s Soundwave Festival. The festival, now in it’s third year, will once again travel to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Adelaide. This also marks Alice’s first set of shows since heading into the studio to record their new album.
In-Studion Update
The producer of the album is Nick Raskulinecz. Nick has produced the Foo Fighters, Trivium, & Rush just to name a few.
In the control room of the studio there's a giant poster with a list of song titles with boxes next to them that get marked off as the work gets done. There are boxes for drums, bass, guitars, vocals, guitar solos, etc. This poster has 20 songs on it, and at this point we're about 2/3rds of the way done with drum tracking. Obviously not all 20 songs are going to be on the album, but they'll tackle that issue down the line.

...Better late than never...I have found some information about "Get Born Again" movie...and I have to say that I haven't read the book by A. Rubio so I am not sure if there is a need to have a film about Layne...yes he shouldn't be forgotten but is the acter able to manage this character? I think that Layne was too unrivalled...
